Best way to buy a new camera or lens...rent a few first.

Last time i had to invest in a new camera i wanted to do my research. The hardest part was there are so many freaking articles or blogs about why Nikon is better than Canon or vice versa. Hyping certain products because they are only paid to for that lens or camera? The best honest advise i could give you if product test for yourself. What do i mean? Borrow Lenses is the company that saved my life. I already was a Canon shooter so i could save that part of the research. What i had to research was what camera body worked best for my needs and budget. That part i had to google and just go off tech spec reviews and comparisons. After that part was narrowed down to a couple a camera bodies, i had to find a way to try them out. you know, shoot with them where i would be using them. Plus they give me awesome saving that i get to pass along to you!!!
Thats when i found Borrow Lenses.com. This awesome website was over loaded with options. From low end amateur bodies to high end, full professional cost more than your car bodies. We all have that one we'd love to try and probably never buy. After i stopped drooling at all the options, I began to narrow it down to a few choices. I looked around and noticed the best part of the company, THEY OFFER INSURANCE!!! Its tough getting rentals though some local dealers because they require such insane policies and deposits. Borrow lenses is kinda like car rental insurance. its a option to add on for a super great price based on the item your renting. Less to worry about when your shooting. Ok enough hyping this company. And before you ask, yes, yes they are. But only because i believe in them. There are plenty of other online companies like this one, i believe they are the best and most reliable.
So as you may or may not know, I'm a wedding photographer by trade. A good amount of my work is at www.8weddings.com So when it was time for me to upgrade my camera i was happy to have discovered this website. I already have a canon lens collection built so i didn't need to look into which brand. For that, and any other brand specific topic, you have to as someone you trust. There is so many articles out there on every subject and topic on why that brand/model is the best or worse. With that being said, the best sites are the ones that just compare tech specs. After browsing a few tech sites i narrowed my search down to 2 bodies. The Canon 5D Mark III and the Canon 6D. I didn't want to waste money on the more expensive body if i didn't need it. I rented both bodies on consecutive weekends to test them out. I won't lie. I fell in love with the Mark III right away with the beauty and power of that camera. It reminded me of my current body. After trying the 6D, I didn't love it at first look, but after shooting with it at a horribly (for photography) low lighting and the max ISO wowed me with the use low noise. Then i took a few astro photos. BAM. Sold. At a cost of more than half that of the mark III, it was a lot easier of a purchase to make.

Fast forward to a fisheye purchase i needed to make. I love the Canon 14mm but at 2k it was just too pricey. I was skeptical about after market lens makers like sigma and Rokinon due to previous experiences. I decided to rent the Rokinon 14mm fisheye from borrow lenses and it blew my mind away haw awesome it was. And for 300 it was a steal. Fully manual so its not for everyone, but a must have if you understand basic photography. So check back regularly for discount codes from this awesome company!
